Let’s Go Fishing – The Pymatuning State Park Fishing Campout, June 15-17. This is a fun campout. The park is on the border of Ohio and Pa, near Andover, OH. Scouts will have the opportunity to shore fish and work on Fishing Merit Badge. We know it is Father’s Day, Sunday, so all fathers are invited. But for any Dad who can not make the campout, we promise to have the Scouts home before noon Sunday, to honor your day! Another opportunity for the Scouts at Pymatuning is to see the giant Carp fight over the bread thrown at Linesville, Pa. Second Class and First Class Rank cooking can be done here too. Cost is $10.00 and permission slips are required. Get them at the Troop meeting or from the Troop Web site.

Adults Needed! – The troop has grown to almost 60 boys, which is great! However, Troop 390 is very much in need of adults to help at the campouts and meetings. Often times, we are in need of more drivers to ensure that all of the scouts get to the campouts. Extra adults are also needed to help supervise the scouts. Many times the Troop only has three adults to watch everyone. There is no fee for adults helping at the campouts.
In particular, adults are also encouraged to participate in the closing ceremony at the conclusion of each Troop meeting. It’s a great way to see what your scout does at the meetings and gives you a chance to participate in our closing, which includes reciting the Scout Law and the Philmont Benediction. Attending the closing is also a great way to hear important announcements.
So if you haven’t given consideration to getting involved before, the Troop Committee is now asking you to give it some thought. The goal is to give the boys the best possible scouting experience. Your help is needed to do that! Thanks.

Fourth of July Parade - Scouts are encouraged to participate in the annual Fairlawn Independence Day parade. Gather in front of the Post Office in the Fairlawn Shopping Center at around 6:00 p.m. The parade will proceed west on Market Street and end in the Summit Mall parking lot off Ghent Rd. near Dillards Lower Level. The Parade kicks off at 6:30, but Market Street is closed to vehicles before then. Scouts, please bring a water bottle.

Summer Camp – Forty Troop 390 Scouts are attending Summer Camp. There is still time for those that want to go but missed the early bird deadline. The fee is $210 until July 7and $230 after that. Summer Camp this year takes place July 15 —21. Again, this year, we' will be at the Concord camp site. Check in on July 15 is 1 p.m. Summer Camp Family Night will be Wed. July 18. See 350 Scouts march in Retreat, on the Parade Field beginning at 5:45 p.m. Troop potluck dinner follows retreat, back at our campsite (Concord). Details of the family night activities will be provided later. Scouts will also be provided with information about signing up for merit badge classes for Summer Camp. At family night, we will be having an Eagle Ceremony for two Scouts after dinner. We need mothers and fathers to volunteer to be at camp during several blocks of time each day at Summer Camp, too. A Summer Camp Specific newsletter will be sent out later in June.

BSA Physical required whether going to Summer Camp or not. The Health forms and explanation letter were given out in a white envelope at the Troop meeting May 31. Those not taken were mailed to the home, June 4. Please complete and return at a Troop meeting as soon as possible.

Hale Farm Service Project is August 11— We cook burgers and hot dogs and provide other items for dinner for the Civil War re-enactors. This year we will camp on the Hale Farms grounds Saturday night after our service project is finished. More information will be available at Summer Camp.
