SUMMER CAMP AT CAMP MANATOC IS JULY 15-21.
Scouts, in uniform, should arrive at Camp Manatoc at 1:00
p.m. on Sunday, July 15. If you cannot arrive at camp at that time, please
notify Mr. Horvath in advance. Vehicles can be driven directly to the
Concord parking area. Take the first left after the Administration Building
and then take a right at the top of the hill. Concord campsite will be on
the left as you come into the parking lot.
RETURNING HOME SATURDAY, JULY 21.
Parents are to come to camp at 9:00 a.m. Scouts and adults help load Troop
gear in the Trailer and Scout gear in the cars and cleanup the campsite. All
Scouts will be released after their advancement forms have been reviewed
with them individually and the campsite has passed inspection (about 10:30).
SCOUTS LEAVING CAMP DURING THE WEEK.
It is highly recommended that Scouts not leave camp during the week.
However, if a Scout must leave, a Camper
Release Form is required to be completed
prior to arriving at camp. The form will be distributed at the Troop
meetings July 5 & 12 and is on our website under Forms - Misc. Please read
the instructions on the form for signing the Scout out and back in.
Completed forms should be given to Mr. Horvath prior to Summer Camp or at
check-in. I recommend that each Scout have a completed
Camper Release Form on
file.
A SUMMER CAMP GEAR LIST
is available at the Troop meetings and on the Troop Website. Click on forms.
Then look under the Camping column. It is also in the Camp Manatoc brochure
mailed to each Scout by Great Trail Council.
FAMILY NIGHT AT SUMMER CAMP IS WEDNESDAY, JULY 18.
Family Night starts with “Retreat” at 5:45
p.m. Be there early to watch your son and the Scouts in the Troop march on
the parade field behind the Administration Building. Following that we will
have a picnic at our Campsite (Concord). The troop will provide the main
dish, drinks, plates, eating utensils and cups. Families are asked to bring
covered dishes to round out the meal. If your last name begins with A-L,
please bring a salad or appetizer. You’ll want to bring enough to feed
approximately 15 people (for example, a large bowl of potato or pasta salad,
green salad, fruit salad or cut-up fruit, vegetable tray, cheese and trail
bologna, etc. ) If your last name begins with M-Z, please bring a large hot
side dish—large enough to serve 15 people (some ideas are baked beans,
pasta, rice pilaf, a potato dish, etc.) Try to bring some of your son’s
favorite dishes. J
Dessert will be provided as well.

ADULTS ARE NEEDED AT SUMMER CAMP.
We need parent volunteers to assist at camp for the periods of time listed
on the attached form. The form is also on the website under Camping. Parents
augment Troop Leadership. The responsibilities are shown for each period of
time. Three adults are needed for each time period shown. The overnight
times are required only if three leaders are not in camp. Please tell Mr.
Horvath the time period for which you will volunteer. Siblings can be
brought to camp for these times except for the overnight times. No pets are
permitted. If you wish to stay for a meal in the dining hall, purchase of a
meal ticket may be required unless we have someone missing from that meal.
You will enjoy the experience!
URGENT! SCOUT PHYSICALS FOR SUMMER CAMP.
A letter, dated May 29, was given to each
Scout at that night’s Troop meeting or mailed to the home a week later. The
color of the form attached to the letter indicates what information is
required. If the form is green, Class 1 -
Personal Health and Medical History
information is to be provided on the front of the form and must be signed
and dated by the parent or guardian. If the form is yellow, a parent or
guardian must complete, sign and date the
Class 1 - Personal Health and Medical History
information and the Class 2 - Medical
Evaluation, on
the back of the form is to be completed by a health care professional.
Copies of sports physicals or other physicals may be attached to the form in
lieu of a new physical exam, however, the date of that physical must be
within the three year period prior to the dates of the Troop activity and it
must be signed by a health care professional.
MEDICATIONS AT CAMP.
The Class 1
Personal Health and Medical History form
is where the parent or guardian lists any prescription and over the counter
medications that the Scout will be taking at camp.
These medications must be brought to camp in the original
package. All medications must be within the expiration date on the package.
This goes for inhalers and epipens, too.
Please provide additional written information for the use of the medicines
if not clear from the prescription bottle. Please put all medications in a
ziplock bag, except inhalers and epipens which should be carried by the
Scout at all times. Remember, if there is a
medication listed on this form, it must be brought to camp.
A medical review is done by the camp staff Sunday
afternoon when we arrive at camp.
