Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum Trip is April 18-20. This great event is open to parents and siblings (siblings permitted only if a parent attends, too).

We are offering two options for this event. The camp that we stayed at previously is not available, so we will stay at Tecumseh Council’s Camp Birch in Yellow Springs, Ohio. This camp is convenient because it is east of the Air Force Museum. Therefore we are offering a two night camping event and a one night camping event.

Option 1, two-night: those wanting to camp two-nights will meet at Faith Lutheran Church promptly at 6:00 p.m., Friday April 18, to drive to Camp Birch for the night. Saturday morning we visit John Bryan State Park to see the gorge created by post-glacial erosion and view unique species of plants. We will then go to the Air Force Museum to join with those who chose Option 2. The fee for Option 1 is $40.

Option 2, one-night: is the original plan to meet at Faith Lutheran Church at 8:00 a.m., Saturday morning. Drive to Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum (190 miles), stopping at an exit off I-70 for fast food before arriving at the museum between noon and 1 p.m. Spend the rest of the day there (until 5 pm). The Troop will get group tickets to see the "Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag" IMAX show at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Then go back to Camp Birch for dinner and camp for the night. Sunday morning we will go back to the museum (there are several buildings) for several hours. Individual drivers can leave for home as they wish (with the Scouts they brought). I am reminded that some of the women elected to stay at a motel, rather than enjoy the camping with the Scouts and Dads. The fee for Option 2 is $30.

We need drivers for both Friday night and Saturday and someone to be in charge of the Saturday morning departure. IMAX tickets will be reserved on Wednesday, April 16, for all Scouts and family members that commit by the Scout meeting Tuesday, April 15.

Each Scout will need to bring spending money if they wish to purchase souvenirs or extra snacks. Catholic Church Services are available. We will have an Interfaith Service at Camp.

Permission Slips are required for every Campout. They are available at the Troop meetings and on the Troop website.

Matthew Ohlin Eagle Ceremony is 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Faith Lutheran Church. More information will be provided by the family.

Troop Court of Honor is Tuesday, May 13, at the Troop meeting. All parents and families are encouraged to join in the celebration of each Scout’s rank advancement.

Camp Manatoc Summer Camp Early-Bird payment deadline is also May 13. The fee schedule remains the same as last year. That is $190 for the early-bird, increasing to $200 until July 3 and then $230. Remember, use the money in the Troop Scout Account for payment of dues and camping fees.

Two Campouts are scheduled for May 16-18. Punderson State Park will be the location for the younger Scouts and Allegheny National Forest backpack campout for the Scouts first class rank and higher.

Bike Trek dates are July 3-10. This is a high adventure trek that is open to Scouts and family. The trek is 220 miles of tow path and railroad trail. Please request separate flyer for information. Cost is $325. Commitments are now due.
